Avonline Looks to the Future at UWE Enterprise Zone.
Avonline Flooring has recently completed the soft flooring package at The University of the West of England (UWE) new Enterprise Zone. This is part of UWE Bristol’s Future Space – newly-created offices, workshops and lab-space for science and tech-based businesses – in the University Enterprise Zone (UEZ) has been explicitly designed to encourage innovation, collaboration and inspiration.
Avonline Flooring carried out sub floor preparation to the whole area which was 4250m2. Floor finishes were Forbo Tessara Tiles-Tarkett PVC and Marmoleum
Located on the University’s Frenchay Campus in former HP Lab buildings the Zone will promote university-business collaboration, provide space for new and growing businesses, access to specialist facilities and expertise, and business support. The £16.5m project is supported by £4m from the government with match-funding from the Local Enterprise Partnership, business and UWE Bristol itself. The Zone is expected to generate over 500 new jobs, and generate more than £50m for the local economy. The 4,000 square metre building will provide laboratory space, offices and workshops, share start-up ‘studio’ space, communal space for networking and meeting, access to specialist equipment and technical support and business services. The Enterprise Zone is one of four to be created with government funding that was awarded in 2014.
The builder for the project was BAM who also completed the build of the new Students Union building, also on the Frenchay Campus and the architect was Parsons Brinckerhoff.
