Dyson D7 & D8.
Exciting times for Avonlines Flooring and Screeding Division. Avonline have been awarded the screeding and soft floor finishes package at the world famous Dyson headquarters in Malmesbury, Wiltshire.
The UK headquarters is home to over 3,000 people including James Dyson himself. Dyson is a high-technology manufacturer of vacuum cleaners, fans, heaters and Hand dryers. £3 Million is invested weekly into research and development at the site.
The site is a totally unique place to work. There’s a Harrier Jump Jet in the car park, a sliced in half mini and many other engineering artefacts spread throughout the building.
Avonline will be working on the refurbishment of the existing D5, D7 and D8 buildings. Works are to include phased construction of a new steel frame supporting CLT floor to form new mezzanine level to D8 complete with new access and feature stairs, balcony balustrades; new internal fit out generally to form new labs, offices and meeting rooms; new raised access flooring, finishes and decorations throughout; new & refurbished WC cores to D5 & D8; new open plan office space generally; new and refurbished Mechanical and Electrical installations, including replacement and enhancements to existing systems, plant replacement; removal and replacement of exiting external walls and replacement with new curtain walling to south and west elevations, including forming new access and entrance; alteration and extension of existing chiller compound and minor external works to the west elevation.
We commenced work on the D8 section of the project at the start of April, fitting 1350 m2 of rubber flooring to a new raised access flor, this included cutting around electrical floor boxes and ventilation grills in the floor.
