New Screeding Project at Prestigious Kings School.
Avonline Screeding has been awarded the screed package at the historic Kings School in Bruton, Somerset. The school was founded in 1519 by three local eminent men. They granted several properties to the Abbot of Bruton and directed him to commence building works. In 1539 Bruton Abbey was dissolved and handed over along with the school endowments to King Henry VIII. After Henrys death and in response to a petition from the people of Bruton, King Edward VI restored the schools endowments on 1st May 1550 and by his royal charter a board of governors was established to administer the school. The school has remained true to its traditions and retains its close links with the town and the parish church, which it still uses for its school services.
Avonlines Screeding works will be taking place in the new music school development, which is part of the schools 500th Anniversary celebrations. The construction work on the new building is being undertaken by A Hammond & Sons.
A Hammond & Sons are a family business that was founded by Albert Hammond after the First World War. He was later joined in business by his sons who all trained in their various trades.
