Extra Care Housing, Fields Road, Wootton.
Avonlines Screeding division is having immense success so far this year. We are excited to announce that we have just been awarded the screed package at Wootton Retirement Village in Bedford.
Wootton Retirement Village will provide a whole range of communal social and leisure facilities. The building will feature a secure and secluded communal garden providing a major outdoor amenity space which will be adjacent to the residents lounge. A communal roof terrace is also due to be featured on the first floor over the communal areas.
The retirement village will have 55 spacious and well-appointed apartments; the building will be wheelchair accessible throughout and will cater for those with mobility difficulties, hearing and visual impairments and limitations on manual dexterity. In addition there is much that can be done to create an environment that is reassuring and helpful to those suffering a degree of mental confusion or memory loss, using colour, symbols and visual triggers to assist with way-finding and recognition.
The builder for this new retirement village is Galliford Try. The development marks the tenth occasion that Galliford Try has worked with the The ExtraCare Charitable Trust on a retirement village, with new projects at Longbridge, Stoke Gifford and High Wycombe.
Extra Care housing aims to provide a ‘Home for Life’ for older people enabling them to live independently in their own home, with care and support to meet their specific needs brought to them at home. A strong community is created and supported with management and shared facilities within a single development.
